Show & Tell

Dear parents,

Some of the students have completed their informal Show and Tell this week. The topic was " My favourite Fruit". Some students brought real fruits, others showed a print-out or drawing. A student even made a fruit craft work ! They did a great job.

A general feedback is that the students need to be louder so that all their classmates can hear their wonderful presentations.

Some of the students also read directly from their scripts in their hands. Hence, not giving eye contact to the audience. I shared with the students that we are having a "Show & Tell" activity and not a "Show & Read" activity. Please help and encourage your child to memorize their scripts.

Here is a video to have some ideas for the Show and Tell. A special thanks to Madam Nadia for sharing this video.

National Day 2011

On 8 August, our school celebrated National Day. The students looked nice in their red and white outfits. The flag raising ceremony that morning was grand and special. Our school scouts and brownies marched into the parade square with our Singapore flag. We then gathered in the hall for some National day songs and watched a skit put up by the Drama Club.We had a memorable day celebrating Singapore's 46th birthday together.

Our Animal Picture Graphs

As part of the Mathematics Holistic Assessment, the students are required to work in groups to create an animal picture graph after their visit to the zoo.

Here are some pictures of our students working in teams to put their picture graphs together.
Working in teams help them to work co-operatively to achieve a common goal. I hope that the group work will give them the experience to also strengthen their social skills with their friends when problem solving. They learn how to discuss with their friends (sometimes meeting each other half way) when each has a different way of doing things. Most of the students enjoy group work and the class can get a little "loud" as discussions go on. I told the class these are "positive" noise. Most of the students have made good progress. They have grown so much from the first day I see them in January. I am proud of you, 1H.
